We find ourselves saying that often, ha! Luckily Michael was at least semi-conscious (or so we think) during H.S. French class, and remembers quite a bit. It's now a point of pride for him since I am totally language deficient in French, though I've learned a lot and plan on trying to keep up with it because it (as did Italian) comes very easily. Except those darn silent consonants... grrr...

Well, after our night @ Le Tour Eiffel, we slept in (rather than take the bus tour w/ the group), had a late lunch, and then took the Metro to pick up our D-Day Normandy tickets and information for Monday's tour (going to be SO cool!). After that, we met up with the group for the Farewell Dinner. Apparently it was optional, which we didn't realize, and so about 20 people were missing. Sad!! There was a really nice family of three we didn't get to say goodbye to, which disappointed us. Anyway, headed to a restaurant near Montmarte and had a nice dinner. French onion soup, escargot, duck, chocolate mousse, an apple tart, and lots of libations. :) Finished up, checked out Montmarte, then back to the hotel.

Everyone else left today (Sat.), but we're staying another week or so. Woke up super late (it's SO nice sleep in for the first time in WEEKS... sheesh!), got another late lunch across the street, then took the Metro to the Eiffel Tower. Got there, took some pics, sat around, watched people, then got a drink at a nearby cafe. When it was finally 7pm, we were able to head over to Cafe Constant which we had looked forward to trying all day. Overall, the food was good, but there wasn't anything that stood out to us, so it wasn't outstanding, especially for the price(s). Still a good meal, though, and a cool ambiance (really small, quaint, open windows, great location).

I (Meredith) am starting to feel achy and have a really sore throat, so I'm hoping a summer cold isn't coming on in the last week of our trip! Agh! Lots of ibuprofen, some throat stuff we picked up down the street @ the pharmacy, and early to bed to rest. Here's hoping...

Tomorrow: Another lazy day, and we'll probably cruise down to the Arc de Triomphe, maybe the Louvre; we've figured out the Metro and it's very cheap when you buy tickets in bulk, so we can tool around wherever.

Monday: Off to Normandy for our all-day D-Day tour! Yippeeeee!! 101st Airborne Division all the way, "Rendezvous with Destiny!!" (They were the first to land in Normandy, the division in which Michael is currently stationed) Hoo-ah!
