Stopping to smell the flowers....
... and we saw a lot of it (la nature) today!! Spent the day bicycling through Claude Monet's garden in Giverny, France, and it was awesome!!
Took the Metro to the train, and the train to Vernon where we had lunch. Our guide, Ned, pointed out the nearby shops and outdoor market, so we headed to shop for lunch. Near the Seine, right on the bank, we enjoyed our baguette, sandwiches (Michael), peaches, raspberries, mozzarella, and raspberry wine. Yum!
After eating, we biked to Giverny. Got to Giverny and checked out the gardens (AMAZING), Monet's house (equally AMAZING, though no pics allowed, sadly), then walked around Giverny. Giverny is a really cute little town and looked to have some neat B&B's... dangit! :) (No offense, Paris...)
Monet's house is SO nice, and the flowers are INCREDIBLE -- it would be so fantastic to live there, I can't even imagine. We caught a bug pollinating in one picture, decided it looked pretty awesome, and started to seek them out. What came of it was 20+ pictures of ladybugs, bees, etc., and they're very cool!!
Picked up some snacks and more raspberry wine for the train ride back (it's legal to drink on trains, etc.) and got back to Paris without incident. Well, sort of. The cork on the wine was plastic and shot off towards the ceiling of the bus making an incredibly LOUD "Pop!" that silenced everyone and made our faces turn 37 shades of red. It came off while he was unscrewing the metal thing, so it was totally unexpected since it shouldn't really do that. But, it wasn't actual cork, so I guess that's why, w/ the pressure and all? Anyway, really embarrassing, but sort of funny (later).
In Paris now, and we are really tired. Looks like a quiet night in, then up early for our Versailles bike tour tomorrow!
