Still in and near the Windy City! Had a great time Saturday at the birthday party! Lots of good food and great conversations! Hard to believe little Charlotte is 2 years old already! (And soooo cute!)
Spent Sunday in Stillman Valley, then had dinner with Ian at Buffalo Wild Wings in Rockford, IL. The honey bbq sauce wings are sooooo good, especially with my two sour apple martinis! ;)
Slept in Monday, chatted with Kris, and headed in to Molly's (Vernon Hills, IL). We went shopping (big mistake for my wallet!) and then came back for a delicious dinner!! We had chicken out of the ol' crock pot with a great sauce from Tastefully Simple. It was delicious!!
Relaxing now with Molly and Dave (and Lucy, the dog) with some TV... gotta love vacation!!
Tomorrow: Back to St. Charles, MO (with a possible excursion through Lasalle-Peru, IL, if there's time, to see my grandparents' headstones and old house)
Wednesday: Nasvhille, TN for a night, to break up the drive back to Athens.
Thursday: Athens, GA - Back HOME!!
Friday: North Carolina for the 4th of July -- woo!
P.S. The video attached is Molly and Dave's dog Lucy, who is trained to ring the cowbell near the door when she has to go outside. It's too funny!

ReplyDeleteAlso read with interest your trip through the Midwest. My husband and I lived in Iowa from 1980-82 -- Cedar Falls, where I was a first-year assistant professor. (I'm from NY originally, but found much to my liking in the farmlands of Iowa.)
