OK, OK, we know that that is a very stereotypical phrase, and admittedly we haven't heard it come out of anyone's mouth. HOWEVER, that is not to say that we haven't enjoyed saying it to each other, calling each other William and Kate, David and Victoria, and referring to people as chaps and blokes. C'mon, we're tacky Americans in London, duh!
So, clearly we made it safely! Took BNA to LGA, met up with my H.S. band director and now friend and colleague Beth Bronk for coffee in Queens during the layover, then off to JFK and later Heathrow! Had a pretty good dinner in JFK and even better people-watching!
The flight into London went very smoothly, and there were even personal TVs for everyone in the back of the seats in front of us. I (Meredith) watched "Limitless", "Jane Eyre", and "The Lincoln Lawyer". All three were pretty good, and then after a little nap, we arrived!
Landed, got our bags quickly, hailed a taxi and made our way to the Oakley Hotel B&B in Chelsea. After lugging my humongous suitcase up four flights of stairs (whoops!) we settled in, showered, changed clothes, and headed to find some grub. Around the corner is the My Old Dutch Pancake House where my mom and I famously saw a woman with green and pink hair when we were here (staying @ the Oakley then, too) in 1992. We displayed the utmost discretion at the time, but upon exiting the restaurant door erupted into fits of giggles, and I claimed (at that ripe young age), "Now I've seen EVERYTHING!" Hardy har har... good times. Had delicious pancakes and English breakfast tea (duh!), then took off on a walk. (Yes, this is a picture of Michael's pancake, and yes, it's as big as the already-huge plate.)

Chelsea has some great shops, boutiques, and restaurants all around us, plus it's right on the river, so we've walked all along the water, watched the boats and taken in some sunshine. OH, and the weather today is INCREDIBLE.
So, what can we say, it's all worked out perfectly so far! :-) Tonight we'll probably visit one of the neighborhood pubs, continue our walk but check out a different street, and continue to enjoy the sights! Chelsea is cool, and seems really trendy, so it's been fun being here.
Tomorrow (Monday) is our River Thames bike tour with a cool American company called Fat Tire Bike Tours. We've heard really great things, and are taking them up on several tours this trip, actually.

Wednesday: Jack the Ripper Tour (Ooo, ewwww, ahhh...")
